WhistleBird CLAY AND ART STUDIO
Focus on Creating & Personal Success
Alyssa Incorvaia has a BA in K-12 art education and an MA in Curriculum and Instruction. She has taught art in public education for over 14 years. Alyssa's standard for craftsmanship and quality instruction was fostered while she apprenticed for a production potter in Michigan. Her time working as an apprentice not only helped her develop her own skills, but also gave her insight into the important role an instructor has in an artists life.
An important aspect of Alyssa's career is being an advocate for the arts in education. Alyssa has worked closely with educators to help them understand and implement art into school curriculum. In 2011 she developed the Seattle Public Schools high school ceramics curriculum map. This map is used by all art teachers using clay to align curriculum within the district. As part of the Washington state arts curriculum standards, a baseline assessment and performance based assessment is given to gauge student learning and success. Alyssa not only developed the pilot program for both assessments, but was a key contributor to the current ceramics performance based assessments used by all art teachers within the district.

Alyssa is excited to open the Whistlebird clay and art studio. She looks forward to the opportunity to enrich the lives of those in her community to create, express, and learn through the arts.
